Wild Horses and Acid Wash Denim /

Emma Cook never fails to offer relaxed, feminine shapes in beautifully printed fabrics. For the mainline SS12 collection, our edit includes a Horse Print Silk Cotton Top (in keeping with Cook’s love of animal imagery), an Acid Wash Denim Print Dress and a Patchwork Denim Print Jumpsuit with a slim silhouette. Easy elegance at it’s best.

Acne AW12 /

If you could only use one word to summarise Acne’s AW12 show it would have to be ambitious. While always directional, Jonny Johansson has designed a collection that is perhaps more fashion forward than any Acne show to date. Fitted dresses and belted tailoring were juxtaposed against other largely more distorted silhouettes, with the trademark off kilter colour palette and use of print that have become somewhat of a calling card for Acne. No longer can Acne be seen as ‘just a denim‘ brand, Johansson challenges this idea with a collection that aims to give the big name players a run for their money.

Mulberry AW12 /

‘Sharpen your claws, comb your fur and brush your fangs. Mulberry AW12 has arrived!’ — Brix Smith Start

A few days before the show, four giant keys arrived at START. We knew this could only mean one thing; the Mulberry tickets had arrived. Always a London Fashion Week highlight, every season Mulberry manage to outdo themselves. It is without fail a show full of theatre and magic. Fast forward to Sunday 19th February and we weren’t disappointed. Just stepping foot inside Claridges, the venue for the Mulberry AW12 show let us know we were in for something truly spectacular. The atrium was filled with golden Mulberry bag balloons and as the stars of the silver screen smiled for the cameras we sipped on fresh juice before the show.

Inspired by Maurice Sendak’s ‘Where the Wild Things Are‘ we were transported to a cave lit up by glittering blue lights where the Mulberry Monster roamed free. The collection took on a similarly wonderful and wild look, with our favourite shapes The Alexa and The Lily showcasing a tribal zig zag make-over. Texture played a starring role, both on the models wearing Mongolian furs in oak and black and on the Mulberry dog (an adorable Hungarian Puli). Even the seats were covered with shaggy, black goats fur. After the show we sipped on Bloody Marys and snaffled down bacon butties before jumping into our Mercedes Benz to be whisked off to the next show.

Simone Rocha AW12 /

It was a pleasure to see Simone Rocha’s AW12 collection. Texture and collars were themes that ran through each piece while shiny metallic leather and and fluoro yellow mohair punctuated a neutral collar palette. Personal favourites included collared lace dresses in black and cream, but the real stars were the shoes; a cross between a brothel creeper and a brogue, these silver flatforms are set to be the shoe of choice for next season.
